Taking Action for Clean Air at All Points East 2025
The Pollution Team brought their “Take Action for Clean Air” campaign to All Points East in Victoria Park on 20 August. Residents were invited to learn about air pollution and commit to everyday actions that make a difference. The event aimed to raise awareness of how the air we breathe affects our health and inspire people to adopt simple changes that help improve air quality across the borough.
The team set up light educational games and activities designed to make learning about air quality fun and accessible. Residents discovered eye opening facts about pollution sources and its impacts on health, sparking important conversations about how everyone can contribute to cleaner air.
Pledges Board
A central feature of the event was the interactive Pledge Board. Residents were encouraged to write down one action they would take to reduce their personal contribution to air pollution. Popular pledges included walking or cycling more, switching off car engines when parked and exploring cleaner ways to cook or heat their homes.
To encourage participation, attendees who joined in the activities were entered into a prize draw to win a year’s free Santander bike membership. This was a great way to promote active travel as a clean, zero emission alternative.
Great engagement
The event received excellent engagement from the local community, with many residents expressing how much they appreciated the chance to learn and take action in a practical way. The Pollution Team’s efforts helped turn awareness into commitment, showing how small changes by individuals can add up to meaningful improvements in local air quality.
This initiative is one of several community facing events delivered in recent months as part of the council’s wider efforts to tackle air pollution and support healthier, more sustainable travel choices in Tower Hamlets.
