Anti-idling action days and volunteering
Air quality and anti-idling action days are part of the Tower Hamlets Breathe Clean campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the harmful effects of air pollution and encourage residents and visitors to turn off their engines when stationary.
At our anti-idling events, we work with local volunteers and organisations across the borough to talk to drivers and educate them about the effects of idling, asking them to turn off their engines.
We often hold these events at locations where we know idling is a problem, such as outside schools.
Through education, engagement and myth busting about engine idling, we want to make Tower Hamlets idle-free.
We welcome anyone who is interested to take part in our anti-idling action days.
Taking part is a great way to make a difference to air quality in our community. The more volunteers at our events, the greater impact we will have.
You can help spread the message about the harms of idling and educate people – download our leaflets and help share anti-idling messages in Tower Hamlets.
If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to take part in our anti-idling action days, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Idling Action London
The Breathe Clean campaign is supported by Vehicle Idling Action, a London-wide behaviour change campaign which is also helping to reduce localised air pollution.
The project supports action to tackle idling in Tower Hamlets, as well as 31 other local authorities. Our anti-idling action events and school workshops are delivered in partnership with Idling Action London.
