Recycling collection days have changed

We changed the recycling collection days as of 8 April 2019.

If you live in a house or receive a weekly collection from your front door you have been sent a letter notifying you of your new collection day. Please note, letters have only been sent to properties affected. Find out more about the changes.

Recycling and education for schools

Recycling in schools

Recycling at schools is easy and encourages children to take an interest in the environment in a ‘hands on’ way.

You can recycle all of the following materials in the recycling containers we provide for schools:

  • Mixed glass bottles and jars
  • Food and drink cans
  • Plastic bottles (no other types of plastic please, only bottles)
  • Mixed card
  • Mixed paper
  • Food and drink cartons
  • Aerosols
  • Telephone directories

The materials can all be mixed together as they are sorted out after collection at a materials recovery facility (read more about this in frequently asked questions).

We can also provide a separate container to collect food waste for composting.

Education support

Learning about recycling and waste reduction in schools is a great way for children to become involved in improving our environment.

We offer a wide range of fun educational activities for schools that enhance the national curriculum and help schools to become more sustainable.

If you are a teacher and would like to book a visit or discuss how we might support your school please contact us.
