Bartlett Park 2012 Consultation Summary

Following the 6 weeks of consultation held in early summer of 2012 on the draft Masterplan for Bartlett Park, a report has been prepared providing a summarised account of the findings of the consultation. Click here to view the report.

The report presents the findings of the questionnaire that was administered and feedback we received from the discussions council Officers had with residents and park users during the drop in sessions, exhibitions and workshops.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in the consultation and for providing their invaluable comments, suggestions and ideas.

Presented below is a summary of the key findings.

  • An overwhelming majority of people, 85%, who completed the questionnaire liked most or some things about the plans. 9% liked everything about it.
  • Almost all of the proposals for the park were very well received by local residents and park users, with majority people saying they liked the proposals a lot.
  • Traffics calming measures, joining up the parks, improvements to the bridge and connecting the park to the canal were the proposals people liked the most.
  • An overwhelming majority of people, 88%, preferred to see children’s play areas fenced.
  • Majority of the people said that they thought the location of the football pitches, changing rooms and children’s play areas were in the right place.
  • Majority of the people would prefer to see the adventure playground relocated in the southern section of the park. A number of people also said that the adventure playground should stay where it is.

We will now work with our various council teams and our landscape architects to first decide, based on a number of factors, including the findings of the consultation, which projects to take forward and how best to deliver them
