Changes to parking permits

We are bringing in some changes to our parking system.  They will affect the way you apply for or renew a parking permit and apply for a visitor scratch card. We are working hard to get the new system up and running. While we are doing this, a temporary system is in place.

Permits will continue to be valid until 14 days after the stated expiry date.

Temporary permits with an expiry date or 14 October or 4 November will continue to be valid until 30 November 2019.

We will continue to issue parking fines for any cars parked illegally.

Temporary visitor parking permit terms and conditions

  1. You must live in the borough.
  2. Your visitor’s vehicle must not exceed 2.3m (7’ 6”) in height or 5.25m (17’ 3”) in length.
  3. Your visitor must display the permit in their vehicle so that all the details can be clearly seen from the outside.
  4. The permit can only be displayed in one vehicle at a time.
  5. Before your visitor leaves you must get the permit back from them. You can re-use it in the same way for future visitors.
  6. Your permit must not be altered in any way. Otherwise, it will be invalid.
  7. Your permit is valid during the controlled parking times and in the parking bays signed: "Resident Permit Holders Only", "Permit Holders Only". "Permit Holders or Pay at Machine" or "Resident Permit Holders & Pay by Phone"
  8. Your permit is not valid in any other bays, such as bays signed ‘Pay at Machine only’, ‘Pay by Phone only’ or Suspended bays.
  9. Your permit is valid all day in the zone that you live, such as zone ‘A, B, C, or D’.
  10. The parking bay signs will show the zone and a number. The number does not apply to your permit.
  11. Your permit is valid in another zone for up to three hours in a day. Your time begins when you first park in another zone. As an example, if you park in another zone at 08:30am your permit is valid up to 11:30am.
  12. This permit does not guarantee the visitor a parking space.
