Lost or stolen permits

Changing, selling or disposing of your vehicle

If you change your vehicle or registration number you must return your permit as it will no longer be valid. You will then have to apply for a new permit.

If you sell or dispose of your vehicle you must return your permit as it will no longer be valid.

Change of address

You must return your permit as it will be invalid from the date of change. You will then have to apply for a new permit.

Vehicle stolen or written-off

If your vehicle is stolen or written-off a refund will be calculated from the date of incident so you must provide the insurance letter showing the date of incident and vehicle registration number.

Vehicle off-the-road and being repaired

If your vehicle is being repaired please refer to the vehicle off-the-road application.

Lost, damaged or stolen permit

If your permit is lost, damaged or stolen you must complete a new application and resubmit your proofs for the permit to be reissued (excluding a multi-vehicle permit). There is a £5 admin fee.

If your multi-vehicle permit is lost or stolen you will not qualify for a refund and you will have to apply for a new permit and pay the full price again.
