16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Abuse

  • Around 1 in every 12 women in Tower Hamlets is expected to experience gender-based violence each year
  • Perceptions of safety: 83% of female residents surveyed in 2023 reported experiencing behaviours that made them feel unsafe (e.g. catcalling, harassment).
  • One in three women in the UK has experienced online abuse or harassment, and among young women, this rises to two in three.
  • Nearly one in five victims report that the perpetrator was a partner or ex-partner, showing how technology is increasingly used to extend coercive control and domestic abuse patterns

We are dedicated to working in partnership with statutory agencies and community organisations to prevent violence against women and girls, tackle its root causes, and reduce the harm it inflicts on individuals, families, and the wider community.
