Accessibility statement for Tower Hamlets Council

This accessibility statement applies to towerhamlets.gov.uk, which is run by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts,
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen,
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard,
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software,
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver)

We’ve made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

This website is also speech enabled with Browsealoud. Browsealoud can help by

  • reading webpages aloud,
  • translating the webpages into another language,
  • provide picture dictionary definitions of words,
  • provide downloadable mp3 audio recordings of webpages,
  • apply a screenmask to highlight the text you’re reading,
  • highlight words as they are read out loud,
  • simplify the webpage

You can access the Browsealoud options from the header of the website, next to the search bar.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
