Hamlets Energy – Community Power
Tower Hamlets Council runs a scheme called
T.H.E Community Power, which harnesses the collective buying power
of residents to ensure that energy providers provide the best
energy rates possible for those who are signed up to the
Mayor of Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman, said: "We are asking
residents to express their interest in switching their energy
supplier to access cheaper energy in the future through Tower
The auction is currently closed. The next auction will
be on February 3, 2015. Registrations will open from
December 2, 2014.
In order to register, you will need to have the following
- current gas and/or electricity provider.
- tariff name for gas and/or electricity.
- current payment method, e.g. monthly direct debit, pre
payment meter etc.
- how much gas and/or electricity you use, in pounds or kWh,
preferably from an annual statement.
The above information can usually be found on a recent bill or
an end of year statement. If you are unable to find the required
information, you can contact your current supplier and they will be
able to provide it to you. It is very important to have this
information so that the system can generate an accurate

The last auction took place on October 14, 2014 and
residents had an average annual saving of £203 for duel fuel
monthly direct debit and £130 for electricity only monthly direct
