THIS Borough is the Tower Hamlets Partnership’s Local Information System designed to provide easy access to a wide range of information and statistics about the borough.

2001 Census

There has been a national census in the UK every 10 years since 1801. This is a count of all people and households.  It is the most complete source of information about the population that we have. The latest census was held on Sunday 29 April 2001.

Local authority staff

The local authority employs over 11,500 staff. Forty seven per cent of people employed by the authority are from minority ethnic communities. (Best Value Performance Indicator BV17, 2008).
