Forced marriage and school holidays

As the school holidays approach and travel restrictions are lifted, there is a risk of children being taken abroad, and being forced to marry. Forced marriage is illegal.

We need to stay alert to Signs of children and young people being in potential danger of Forced Marriage. It is important to act quickly, without alerting family members or friends who may be part of the plans.

Positive Change Service (PCS)

Work with children who have lived with family conflict, parents who have experienced abuse and parents who have been abusive.

They deliver programmes for perpetrators and survivors of domestic violence and their children.
The weekly programmes for children and mothers run parallel over 12 weeks. The programmes for dads run over 20 weeks in Sylheti and English (individual programmes to female perpetrators / male survivors/ those requiring interpreters).

Referral is via CSC Mosaic and via children’s centres. We work with survivors and children (not perpetrators) via early help. Professionals making the referral need to have consent from the family.
