Tower Hamlets Council has appointed Sam Brown as its new Director of Corporate Property and Estates.
Born and raised in Tower Hamlets, Mr Brown began his career at Tower Hamlets Council in 1988, rising through the ranks from apprentice plumber to now Director of Corporate Property and Estates.
Mr Brown, Tower Hamlets Council’s new Director of Corporate Property and Estates, said:
“I have proudly called Tower Hamlets home my entire life. Back in 1988 I started working as an apprentice plumber for the Council. Coming from a working-class background, I threw myself into the opportunity, completing my City & Guilds and Advanced Craft qualifications while working directly for the Council.
“From there, my career took me through a variety of roles across Housing – from Resident Caretaker in Globe Town, to Housing Inspector in Limehouse – giving me the chance to build strong connections with our communities and gaining invaluable frontline experience.
“Over the years, I worked my way through the ranks, always learning, always developing, and always supported by Tower Hamlets Council. That journey led me to become Head of Facilities Management, where I had the privilege of leading a team of 106 dedicated colleagues, many of whom I have worked alongside throughout my career.
“With the Council’s support, I continued to push myself further, completing a Level 7 MBA in Leadership and Management last year. Most recently, after a successful acting-up period, I was delighted to be appointed as Director of Corporate Property and Estates.
“Looking back on 37 years of service, I feel incredibly proud of the path I’ve taken and am grateful to the Council for support at every stage. But most importantly, I am excited for the future: to use my experience and passion to make a real difference for the residents of Tower Hamlets, the borough I have always called home.”
David Joyce, Corporate Director for Housing and Regeneration, said:
“Sam is someone who has continuously pushed himself, building his qualifications and experience throughout his career at Tower Hamlets. He brings a track record of impressive experience and extensive corporate knowledge.
“Our Corporate Property and Estates portfolio is varied and brings with it numerous individual challenges and considerations. Sam’s experience will be invaluable as we continue to make best use our assets for the communities and residents we serve.”
