Repair and Reuse

For this year’s Repair Week Tower Hamlets are celebrating with a Repair and Swap event in the Grocers Wing at the Town Hall.

Come and save money and reduce waste by learning how to repair clothes and bikes.

Find some second-hand treasures and pass on your unwanted clothes or books.

What to expect on the day

Two fantastic workshops

All activities are free.

  • Bike maintenance and repairs: Bring your bike to get it fixed by Bicycle Lane mechanics
  • Clothes mending workshop: Learn to repair treasured clothing with SunnyJar Eco Hub

Clothes and book swap: How to take part

We will also have a clothes and book swap event taking place.

  • Bring up to 15 clean clothing items or books between 10:30 to 11:30am. You’ll get tokens in exchange.

  • After dropping off your items, you can take a break by joining a workshop or come back later when swapping begins.

  • Choose up to 15 clothing items or books between 12 and 1pm. Use your tokens to make the exchange.

  • We accept all clothes and shoes, including items for babies, children and men. We do not accept underwear or swimwear.

Please make sure all items are clean and in good condition, with no marks, stains or holes. Only bring items you would be happy to take home yourself.

We will check all items before giving out tokens. Books must also be in good condition and count towards your 15‑item limit.

Any clothes or books left at the end of the swap will be saved for the next event or collected by our charity partner, Triad.

For more information on Traid (who also offer home collections across the borough), please visit the recycle and reuse page.
