Half-Termly Attendance collection
As per last year we will be using the DfE attendance collection system (IDAMS) to collect your schools Attendance and PA data after each Half-term. We would obviously encourage all schools to sign up if you haven’t done so already.

Share your daily school attendance data
Below are the dates that we have set for the LA to scrape your school's data from the IDAMS systems. Schools will not need to do anything except ensure the data that is on your MIS is accurate and up-to-date.
Please remember
It is important that schools must ensure that your attendance data is always up to date on your MIS.
Please remember that any sessions of attendance/absence must be suitably recorded with the correct DfE code, according to prevailing DfE guidance, e.g. use the DfE’s code ‘D’ (not ‘B’) for any sessions where a dual-registered pupil (intentionally ‘on roll’ at multiple schools at once) is not expected at your site, since they are expected to typically be attending one of their other schools on that day.
Overuse of code 'B'
Over-use of code ‘B’, instead of ‘D’, causes inaccurate attendance figures for some schools because code ‘B’ is not ‘discounted’ by the DfE (code ‘D’ is). Please ensure that schools only use code ‘B’ if the pupil’s education for that session is not at another school, nor at another PRU:
- Code ‘D’ applies (rather than ‘B’) if a pupil is at another school or another PRU.
- Code ‘B’ for ‘off site educated’ only applies where the (other) site of education would not report attendance to the DfE in the school census, themselves.
X code phase out
The X code for covid is being phased out. The X code will return to its original meaning and used to classify nursery-based children not expected in school.

Half Term 1:
LA will scrape data from IDAMS: 25 October 2023
Half Term 1 to 2:
LA will scrape data from IDAMS: 3 January 2024
Half Term 1 to 3:
LA will scrape data from IDAMS: 14 February 2024
Half Term 1 to 4:
LA will scrape data from IDAMS: 3 April 2024
Half Term 1 to 5:
LA will scrape data from IDAMS: 29 May 2024
Half Term 1 to 6:
LA will scrape data from IDAMS: 31 July 2024
