Our New Town Hall story

The new Town Hall is part of several major improvements in Whitechapel where new history is being created in one of London's most historic towns.

Building's history

Through the construction of the new Town Hall, it was essential that we maintained the heritage of the Royal London Hospital site, to bring it back into community.

Construction

The council has bought and restored an asset which it will own for the long-term benefit of the borough. Check out the time-lapse video and the early construction pictures.

Economic, heritage and environmental benefits

Throughout the three-year build we have created local employment, training and apprenticeship opportunities, as well as local business opportunities.

Using the building

The new Town Hall hosts council meetings and is home to our Residents' Hub. With a Café and public Wi-Fi available, we're bringing the Town Hall back into community use.
