1000 residents receive careers support at public sector jobs fair

Careers Faire -78

Residents get career advice

Nearly 1,000 job seekers in Tower Hamlets received expert careers advice at a public sector careers and jobs fair on Thursday 10 April held at Tower Hamlets Town Hall.

The event connected residents with employment and training opportunities across government, healthcare, education, emergency services and other public sector industries.

Attendees explored a wide range of career pathways, engaged with professionals, and learned how to access jobs, apprenticeships, and local training programmes.

Employers in attendance included the Home Office, Department for Work and Pensions, NHS, Met Police and several Tower Hamlets Council departments.

Cllr Musthak Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Enterprise, Skills and Growth, said:

“We are committed to supporting our residents to achieve their career goals. Events like this are vital for opening doors to meaningful employment and building a stronger, more inclusive local workforce.

“The public sector offers a broad range of rewarding careers, and we want to ensure that our residents are aware of these opportunities and feel supported to pursue them. Through fairs like this, we’re not only providing practical advice and connections, but also helping to inspire confidence and ambition.”

The fair was split into three sessions, including a dedicated quiet session in the morning for residents who are neurodivergent, have a learning disability or are on the autism spectrum.

Tower Hamlets Council regularly hosts careers fairs across different sectors to help residents access training and employment. To stay informed about upcoming events, residents can register for a Workpath account.
