Residents across the borough came together from 30 June to 6 July to mark Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week 2025, with a packed schedule of events aimed at promoting safety, awareness, and reporting paths.
Over the course of the week, 19 events were held in 19 different locations, ensuring that every ward in the borough was represented. More than 1,100 residents took part in the activities, where they accessed safety information, learned how to report, and discovered how the Public Protection and Integrated Enforcement teams are working to tackle anti-social behaviour.
Events included partnership engagement sessions with Poplar HARCA, bike and phone marking, crime prevention advice, enforcement patrols and walkabouts with residents and partners. Teams also carried out traffic operations in collaboration with the Police, conducted weapons sweeps, and delivered Nitrous Oxide awareness activities in partnership with the Osmani Trust. These events not only raised awareness but also provided practical tools and advice to help residents feel safer and more empowered to report concerns in their communities.
As part of the week’s traffic operations and enforcement activities, several arrests and interventions were made. These included arrests for driving while over the prescribed drug limit, dangerous driving and failing to stop, as well as arrests for drug offences.
Traffic enforcement led to the seizure of multiple vehicles, including a moped and several cars found to be uninsured or in dangerous condition. An eBike was also confiscated for not meeting insurance and licensing requirements. In addition, three Section 59 warnings were issued for anti-social use of vehicles.
The success of ASB Awareness Week was made possible thanks to the collaboration of a wide range of partners and teams. These included Tower Hamlets Enforcement Officers (THEOs), Environmental Services, Young Tower Hamlets, Poplar HARCA, East End Homes, the Drug Squad, the Neighbourhood Estates ASB Team, Tower Hamlets Task Force, the London Fire Brigade, Mounted Police, the Hate Crime Team, the Police Safer Neighbourhood Team, and the Osmani Trust. Their combined efforts ensured a borough-wide impact, collaborating to support communities and tackle anti-social behaviour
