Idea Store Canary Wharf has officially reopened following a £1.4 million refurbishment, unveiling refreshed spaces, upgraded facilities, and a welcoming environment designed for all residents and visitors.
Lutfur Rahman, Executive Mayor of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, joined Sophie Goddard, Managing Director - ESG at CWG on Thursday 12 March, to unveil a plaque and celebrate the reopening.
The investment, jointly funded by Tower Hamlets Council and CWG, marks a significant enhancement to one of the borough’s flagship library and learning hubs.
The redevelopment includes a full upgrade of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.
A major addition is the brand-new children’s library, now located in the former Post Office unit in the Churchill Place precinct, offering a dedicated space for families and young readers.
Lutfur Rahman, Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets, said:
“Our investment has transformed Idea Store Canary Wharf into an ultra-modern, state-of-the-art building, which provides a beautiful and accessible space to be enjoyed by many more people. It is certain to play a vital role for members of our local community and to encourage more residents and visitors to use the borough’s library and learning services.”
The expanded services and improved facilities are the result of a strong partnership between Tower Hamlets Council and CWG.
Sophie Goddard, Managing Director - ESG at CWG, said:
"CWG are proud to have supported the refurbishment of Idea Store Canary Wharf. It represents our ongoing dedication to creating an inclusive neighbourhood where learning opportunities are made accessible for all. We're proud to support a facility that combines traditional library services with lifelong learning opportunities in the heart of the Wharf."
