Fourteen junior and youth teams took part in the tournament
The Mayor’s Cricket Cup tournament returned in August and September, with trophies presented in six categories.
Hosted and delivered by our sports and physical activities team, the sports festival brought together children and adults, boys and girls and men and women from all ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
Twenty adult teams and 14 junior and youth teams took part in the tournament, playing 71 exciting matches at Victoria Park.
Lutfur Rahman, Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets, said: “It has been fantastic to see another successful Cricket Cup tournament. Congratulations to all the players who stepped up to the crease and helped make this year’s competition a real hit. The enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship on display made for an inspiring celebration of sport."
The competition follows council investment in new cricket facilities at Victoria Park and Millwall Park, with plans underway for additional practice facilities at Stepney Green Park and King Edward Memorial Park.
Councillor Minara Khatun, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism, said: “I would like to thank our delivery partners Capital Kids Cricket and London Cricket League, and our sponsors Guildmore, Arada, CWG, Rineys, and Clarion Futuresfor enabling the council to deliver a successful Mayor’s Cricket Cup competition 2026.”
