Great food, live music, dancing, colourful costumes, and family fun will fill Brick Lane this Sunday 20 September.
The Brick Lane Curry Festival returns this weekend, bringing residents and visitors together for a day of food, music, culture and community in the heart of Banglatown.
Following the festival's hugely successful return last year, this year's event promises to be bigger, better and spicier, with free entertainment and activities taking place from 12pm to 7pm.
The festival celebrates the Bangladeshi and South Asian heritage that has helped make Brick Lane and the wider East End what they are today, while supporting the local restaurants and independent businesses at the heart of the area.
Something for everyone
The day will begin with a spectacular procession through Brick Lane, featuring dancers, dhol drummers, traditional Chinese lion dancing and three large puppets specially created for the festival by acclaimed arts organisation Emergency Exit Arts.
The main festival stage will feature live music and dance throughout the day, with British-Bangladeshi artists Khiyo, Nish and Mumzy Stranger, alongside performances from IMD Legion, DJ Naz ft. Bolly Flex, Taal Torongo, Showmi Das Dance Company, Bollywood Brass Band and more.
There will also be roaming performers, DJs and pop-up entertainment across Brick Lane, including performances from talented students at Access Creative College.
Bring the family
At The Gaat, the festival's dedicated family zone, visitors can enjoy a range of free activities, including traditional saree draping and lungi wrapping, dance workshops with IMD Legion and Bolly Flex, sports, games and a bouncy castle.
Come hungry
Of course, no Brick Lane Curry Festival would be complete without great food.
Participating restaurants will be serving regional and speciality dishes, alongside street-food stalls and chef demonstrations celebrating the rich culinary traditions of East London's Bangladeshi community.

The Brick Lane Curry Festival is organised by Tower Hamlets Council, the Bangla Town Business Association (BTBA) and Brick Lane Community Forum (BLCF) and forms part of the Love Tower Hamlets campaign.
