Waste service strike

A number of Tower Hamlets Council frontline waste service workers and street cleansers will be going on strike from 18 September to 1 October due to a national pay dispute.

Despite the council working to maintain services for residents, the strike will impact collections and cleansing across the borough. We apologise in advance for the disruption this will cause.

About WorkPath

WorkPath is an employment service that works in collaboration with employers, training providers, businesses, and partners to deliver an integrated service that helps residents reach their full potential.

Our job is to give you the right information, advice, and guidance to support you with achieving your training/employment goals. The council believes that residents, regardless of the barriers they face should have access to the full support of our service; this includes equipping people with the skills needed to be able to equally compete in a highly competitive jobs market and achieve your chosen career path. WorkPath have a multitude of different organisations across the private, public, and voluntary sectors that assist residents to achieve key skills, apprenticeships, work experience programmes and vacancies. We work across all sectors such as construction, hospitality, security, business administration and many more to bring various opportunities to our residents.

The journey for residents can be complex with people needing to overcome multiple barriers. This can lead to confusion and feeling overwhelmed when faced with not knowing where to access the right help and support. WorkPath’ s focus is to support and prioritise those furthest away from the labour market. This means that by bringing all services and opportunities together for you as one seamless service, gives you a much simpler and easier pathway to accessing various opportunities.

We have different entry points to register for our service which include our Idea Stores, Housing Teams, Children & Family Centres, Third Sector Organisations, Partner organisations and Health Care providers/professionals. Once the registration has been completed, you will be allocated an officer who will establish what you want and identify your needs and goals. WorkPath deliver a professional and individualised service to help prepare and support job seekers into employment whilst providing practical ways to overcome barriers.

Once you secure training or employment, you will also receive in work support to help with the transition into work and be available for any other help needed.

If you are already working, we can also help you make a fresh start in a new career direction, or progress higher in your chosen area of work.
