Why is this application being made?
On 14 October 2025, Poplar Regen Alliance submitted an application for re-designation of their Neighbourhood Planning Forum for the Poplar neighbourhood planning area.
The forum previously received approval for designation in October 2018, which has now expired as the designation as the neighbourhood planning forum lasts five years.

Why are we consulting?
The Neighbourhood Planning (General) (Amendment) Regulations 2015 indicate that applications for the determination of a neighbourhood forum must be determined by the Council within 13 weeks of commencing consultation.
Following review of the application by the Council, a 6-week consultation period must be undertaken where the application is published for public consultation.
The consultation is now open from 26 August 2026 to 7 October 2026.This will provide an opportunity for public comments from residents, local businesses and communities to provide comments on the re-designation of the Poplar Regen Alliance as the designated neighbourhood forum.
What happens next?
After the consultation closes, the council will review all comments received and the application will go through the relevant reporting stages to Cabinet where a decision will be made whether to approve or reject the application.
If a designation is made, no other forum can be designated for the Neighbourhood Planning area until that designation expires or is withdrawn.
