In a letter to Home Secretary Suella Braverman, Tower Hamlets Council said that the growing popularity of e-bikes and e-scooters has resulted in a 'dramatic rise' in fires caused by their batteries and called for more to be done to protect residents.

Tower Hamlets residents and local business owners will soon be receiving their council tax bills for the year ahead. The council sends around 150,000 council tax and business rates bills between February and March (the start of the financial year).

Council welcomes GLA call on e-bike safety

Description
The letter from the London Assembly follows earlier calls made by Tower Hamlets Council for improved legislation, more funding for local authorities to create safe charging spaces, more robust sampling and examination on importation of lithium batteries - including a national registration body for businesses providing them - and greater research into the issue.
