Families, children and young people in Tower Hamlets can now access a wide range of local support, services, and activities through the new Family Information Hub website.
The Family Information Hub brings together information about Best Start Family Hubs, the Family Information Service, and SEND Local Offer. The new platform provides a single place where residents can access advice, guidance and local opportunities for children, young people, and families.
The website was officially launched at an event in May, where more than 250 families, professionals and community partners came together to celebrate the new service. More than 35 partner organisations attended the event, giving residents the opportunity to learn about the support available across the borough and explore the new website.
Lutfur Rahman, Executive Mayor of Tower Hamlets, said:
“Tower Hamlets is proud to invest in its children, young people and families. But we know that support only makes a difference if people can easily find and use it.
“The Family Information Hub is a key step in breaking down those barriers. It brings together information in one accessible place, so families can quickly connect with the help they need. It reflects our commitment to building a borough where every family feels supported and empowered to access the wide range of services we have on offer in Tower Hamlets.”
Cllr Faysal Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Life Chances, said:
“We want every family in Tower Hamlets to be able to access the right support at the right time. Our new Family Information Hub is designed with this in mind, making it simple to search for childcare, activities, SEND services and advice all in one place.
“By bringing together trusted local services in a single platform, we’re making it easier for families to take that next step and access practical support quickly.”
The Family Information Hub has been developed through collaboration between council services, digital specialists, and community partners, with the aim of improving access to information and support for families across Tower Hamlets.
Tower Hamlets Council continues to support children and young people to give them the best possible opportunities in life.
Last year, it became the first council in England to introduce universal school uniform grants for families with a household income under £50,350, with families able to claim £50 per child entering primary school and £150 per child entering secondary school.
Tower Hamlets was also the first local authority in the country to offer universal free school meals for both primary and secondary school children, saving families £550 per child, per year.
It is also the only council to have restored the Education Maintenance Allowance alongside university and college grants, and its youth provision, Young Tower Hamlets, has opened 20 youth centres, and has nearly reached its goal of a youth centre in every ward.
Residents can explore local services, activities and support available for children, young people and families by visiting Tower Hamlets Family Information Hub
