Rivers have always been sources of commerce, transport, irrigation and conquest. This presentation of photographs taken across Bangladesh, depicts rivers and the livelihoods of those who work on or beside them. This theme flows through the rivers of East London and the historical connections of Bengal to London through the East India Company. There will be a focus on the state of many contemporary rivers through pollution, climate change and more. There will also be a tribute to rivers through the medium of song.

About the organiser: Peter has been interested in environmental issues since the 1990s and worked with NGOs in Bangladesh for 9 years. He has developed a love for the rivers of Bengal as he travelled around the country and loved taking photos of what he could see.
