For years, Poplar Union has stood as a beacon of creative freedom and cultural celebration in our community.
This exhibition brings together a collection of photographs spanning multiple years, documenting the extraordinary artists who have graced our stages and filled our spaces with music, poetry, performance and presence.
These images capture more than moments frozen in time. From intimate solo performances and powerful spoken word to vibrant jazz ensembles, soulful vocalists and experimental collaborations, the collection reflects the richness and diversity of talent within our community.
We want to celebrate and honour the Black artists whose voices, visions and artistry have helped shape our cultural landscape.
This exhibition is a testament to their contributions, creativity, resilience and the stories they have shared with us. It celebrates the spaces we have created together, where artists can be fully seen and heard, and where community members can gather to witness, connect and be moved.
The exhibition will take place at Poplar Union and on Jena the Narrow Boat
