Debt Assist
Debt assist is a managed support service that helps residents and businesses deal with council debts in a manageable way.
Debt assist helps people deal with the real reasons behind their debt. This could include helping them increase their income by getting benefits they are entitled to or saving money through discounts or social tariffs.
When required, residents are also referred to an external accredited debt triage partner, who provide professional support with managing and resolving debt challenges. The service is delivered in partnership with Liberata.
Why are we introducing this
Council debt affects vital local services. By adopting debt assist, we are taking action to recover outstanding debts while supporting residents to manage their money more effectively.
Debt assist makes it easier for people to manage their finances by helping them increase their income or setting up payment plans that suit their situation. This helps them stay on top of payments and reduces the stress caused by debt.
If you have been contacted by Liberata about Debt Assist and you can pay in full, please visit the portal.
