Business rates are the way that those who occupy commercial property contribute towards the cost of local services.
New Business rates reliefs and grants
The Chancellor announced on 21 December that businesses in the hospitality and leisure sectors in England will be eligible for one-off grants of upto £6,000 per premises, plus additional discretionary funding will be made available for local authorities to support other businesses.
We are waiting on further guidance and allocations from government before schemes can be implemented.
The government are in the process of developing a new business rates relief scheme called the COVID-19 Additional Relief Fund (CARF). This would be a reduction against business rates liability. Updated information will be shared in this section when any scheme goes live.
