Learning, work and volunteering
People of all ages and abilities take part in learning, work and volunteering activities.
Throughout the borough, you'll find a wide range of opportunities available to help you develop your skills and support you in employment.
Learning
The Ideas store and Tower Hamlets College both offer a variety of courses for learning and career development. They can help you to learn a language or to get to grips with new technology. They can also help with hobbies such as photography and arts and crafts.
Remember: All adult education centres are accessible and offer support for people with physical or learning disabilities. Contact the centres directly to find out about the support they offer. If you're claiming benefits, there may be concessions available too.
Volunteering
Volunteering is a great way to develop your employment skills, meet new people and contribute to your local community. It can also increase your self esteem and help you to gain a sense of purpose.
There are volunteering opportunities suitable for all abilities, ages and levels of commitment throughout the borough.
The local volunteer centre supports anyone who lives, works or studies in Tower Hamlets. It can help to find a local volunteering opportunity to suit you.
The Idea Stores, learning centres and information hubs have a wide range of volunteering opportunities, such as helping children with their reading or helping people to improve their digital skills.
Did you know? People aged over 75 are just as likely to volunteer once a month as people aged 16-49
