Submission

The Tower Hamlets Local Plan was submitted to the Secretary of State for Independent Examination on Monday 16 February 2026.

An independent Inspector from the Planning Inspectorate will be appointed to examine the Local Plan and its supporting evidence to decide whether the Local Plan meets soundness and legal compliance tests.

The Inspector will consider the comments made as part of the Regulation 19 consultations and identify various matters, issues and questions to consider as part of the examination.

Inspector

The inspector will be confirmed shortly to carry out the independent examination of the Tower Hamlets Local Plan 2023-2038.

The Inspector’s task is to consider the soundness of the submitted plan and whether it has been prepared in accordance with the legal and procedural requirements.
