Tower Hamlets Local Plan

The Tower Hamlets Local Plan consists of the Core Strategy and Managing Development Document. Together these documents provide spatial policies, development management policies and site allocations to guide and manage development in the borough.

We have submitted our new draft Local Plan to the Secretary of State for public examination. Please see the new Local Plan web page for details of progress. 

Core Strategy

The Core Strategy was formally adopted in September, 2010.

Managing Development Document

The Managing Development Document was formally adopted in April, 2013.

Evidence Base

To support and inform the production of the Local Plan and other supplementary guidance, technical research was undertaken as supporting evidence base.

Managing Development Document evidence base

The following evidence base documents were produced between 2010-2012 to specifically inform the adopted Managing Development Document (MDD) (2013). The evidence developed for the adopted Core Strategy (further down below) also informed the MDD.
