Covid-19 (Coronavirus) update

Our services are running at a reduced capacity. Please check our individual pages for updates on what services are running and any restrictions that are in place.

Our terms and conditions have also been updated to show the changes we have in place to keep our building, customers and colleagues safe.

Face coverings must be worn at the Register Office unless you are medically exempt.

National registration system issues

Due to technical issues with the national registration system that are out of our control, registrations may take longer than usual. You may not be able to receive certificates on the day of registration.

We thank you for your patience and apologise for any difficulties this may cause. We hope that this national issue is fixed soon.

Naming ceremonies

We offer Naming Ceremonies for those who wish to celebrate the birth of a new baby or welcome an adopted child or stepchild to their family. We have a variety of days and times available and can tailor a ceremony to your requirements. Our ceremony room holds up to 60 guests.

A naming ceremony can be held for children of all ages and for more than one child in the same family. A typical ceremony has seven elements:

  • introduction and welcome
  • readings
  • naming the child or children
  • promises by parents
  • promises by supporting adults
  • signing the commemorative certificate
  • closing words

If you are interested in finding out more please email our ceremonies team with your name and telephone number.

Fees may be found on our fees page. You must read our terms and conditions before making a booking.
