People who obtain British citizenship can choose to have their certificate presented in either a group or individual ceremony.
Ceremonies are usually held in The Vestry in the Register Office.
Please note that the Home Office is experiencing technical difficulties therefore there are currently delays to citizenship ceremonies.
If you have an enquiry about British citizenship you can find out more from the Home Office website.
If you have received your Home Office invitation letter - congratulations! You will soon receive a citizenship ceremony letter from Tower Hamlets Register Office inviting you to attend your ceremony. The letter will give you a date and time to attend, it will also give you information about the ceremony.
A fee is not required for a group citizenship ceremony, nor are fees necessary for a child obtaining their citizenship. However for individual citizenship ceremonies the fee is:
Monday to Friday: £110
This fee is payable in advance. Individual ceremonies take place on weekdays at 9.30am.
It is also possible to have an individual citizenship ceremony on a Saturday or Sunday (subject to availability) but further fees will apply.
