Voluntary and Community Sector Strategy

What is the Voluntary and Community Sector Strategy

The council worked with the voluntary and community sector and partners to introduce the Voluntary and Community Sector Strategy 2020-2024.

The strategy has a vision of a ‘diverse and thriving VCS, working alongside residents, the council and partner organisations to achieve better outcomes for residents.

The strategy has three priorities

  • better partnership working with the VCS
  • a more resilient and sustainable VCS
  • improved partnership arrangements across sectors.

Implementation of the Strategy is delivered by Cooperate, the strategic VCS partnership body in the borough.

Creating a new strategy

The current strategy is due to run out in 2024 and since it was written the needs of the VCS have changed.

The council is going to work with partners to design a new strategy that meets the needs of the VCS and reflects the ambitions of the council and its partners.

Development of the strategy will begin in November 2023 and will be agreed by the Council’s Cabinet in July 2024.

How can I get involved in developing the new strategy?

The council is working with a group of voluntary and community sector and public sector partners to coproduce the strategy.

In January and February 2024, we will be holding a number of consultation events for residents, VCS and partners to have their say.

These will happen online and in community venues. More details on how to sign up will be shared on these pages closer to the time.
