School Clothing Grants

What is a School Clothing Grant?

A school clothing grant helps with the cost of school uniform for children starting reception year or transferring to secondary school.

How much is the grant?

• Reception Year: £50.00 per child
• Secondary School year 7: £150 per child

Do you qualify?

Applications can only be made when you are notified of your child’s school placement up to 31 October that year.

To qualify for a School Clothing Grant you must:

• live in Tower Hamlets (unless we have rehoused you in another borough)
• have a household income less than £50,350
• be the parent or guardian of a child who is:
  • starting secondary school and born between September 2014 and August 2015, or
  • starting reception and born between September 2021 and August 2022

When should you apply?

You can apply from 1 May until 31 October.
