Residential Energy Efficiency Programme

Following the successful delivery of the previous boiler replacement programmes, the council has launched phase three of the award winning programme. We have decided to offer additional energy retrofits this time round.

Successful applications may be eligible for one or more of the following measures, depending on eligibility, up to a total value of £10,000.

  • upgrading old and inefficient gas boilers
  • replacing single glazed windows to double glazed windows
  • installing loft insulation to private lofts only, not into shared or communal spaces
  • cavity wall insulation to houses with access to all exterior walls 
  • heat pumps to houses
  • solar PV to houses

Please read this page thoroughly as we will not be able to assist if you do not meet the following criteria

  • The property must be leasehold or freehold.
  • At least one owner must live in the property and have lived there for at least 12 months.
  • At least one applicant (owner or other) who has been living in the property for at least 12 months, must be in receipt of one of the benefits listed below.
  • The council will verify property ownership with the Land Registry service
  • We will require proof of residency for that duration for eligible applicants
  • If a property owner has lived in the property for at least 12 months and receives one of the listed benefits below, please only add one applicant.

This is a discretionary service and the council is not obligated to approve applications.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, the council will review your application and assess the potential works it can offer. If your application is successful, a surveyor will visit your property to conduct an energy survey. The council will then evaluate the proposed works and, if deemed feasible, approve them for implementation.

Good to know

  • All applications for works are subject to an energy and technical survey
  • You may need to seek Landlord approval in writing for certain works and forward this to us
  • Works are limited to up to £10,000 per property
  • You will not be awarded any funds directly
  • You cannot use your own contractor to carry out any works
  • All works will come with a minimum 12 month warranty      
  • It is your responsibility to arrange any regular servicing of works to satisfy the terms and conditions of any extended warranty
  • Applications usually take up to 10 working days to be processed. On rare occasions it may take slightly longer
  • Please do not call or email chasing the status of your application unless it has exceeded 10 working days
