Big London Energy Switch
The council runs a scheme called the Tower Hamlets Energy (T.H.E.) Community Power, which uses the collective buying power of residents to ensure that energy providers offer the best energy rates possible to those who are registered on the scheme.
The innovative programme won the team the council’s 2014 Best Idea/Innovation Award.
Find out how the scheme works.
View the results of the May 2020 energy auction. Residents who switched energy provider received an average annual saving of £146.25 and 14 tonnes of CO2 is expected to be saved from these savings. That's the equivalent of taking 8 small cars off the road driving 7000 miles per year!
Register for the next energy auction
The next energy auction will take place on Tuesday 6 October 2020. The registration portal will be open from 4 August.
You will be able to register using the following methods:
In order to register, you will need to have the following information:
-
current gas and/or electricity provider
-
tariff name for gas and/or electricity
-
current payment method, e.g. monthly direct debit, pre-payment meter etc
-
how much gas and/or electricity you use, in pounds or kWh, preferably from an annual statement.
The above information can usually be found on a recent bill or an end-of-year statement. If you are unable to find the required information, you can contact your current supplier and they will be able to provide it to you. For online registrations, a personalised email offer will be sent, please make sure to check the spam folder if you do not receive the email.
