The Learning Academy at Tower Hamlets are delighted to invite you to Taking Steps to Success, our annual ASYE recruitment event.

We have spent the past 6 years working out how best to support newly qualified social workers with great results. There really has never been a better time or place to start your social work career than with us.

As one of the Early Adopters of the Early Career Framework Tower Hamlets is one of the local authorities leading the way in shaping the way Social Workers are supported in the beginning of their careers.

We particularly welcome applications from NQSWs from Global majority backgrounds and with lived experience of Social Work. ASYE applications and interviews

The planned recruitment timeline for 2024:

Application portal opens 13 -26 May 2024
Online group and written exercises for those who are shortlisted, will take place on the 10 to 13 June 2024
Panel interviews for those successful through the group and written stage will take place on the 24 to 27 June
We hope to start the 2024/2025 ASYE with a 2 week induction starting on 7 October 2024

Salary for Newly qualified Social Workers/ASYE

Our starting salary for ASYE is £42,855 plus zone 2-3 travel card.

This will go up to £44,862 once you complete your ASYE. You also have opportunities to go further up the salary grading once you complete post qualifying courses after completing your ASYE.

5 year Steps to Success programme

The Learning Academy has developed an innovative 5 year Steps to Success programme which offers a wrap around support package for social workers in their first 5 years of practice.

This has enhanced the experience social workers have during their ASYE, as well as ensuring the right support continues to be in place afterwards to enable you to develop and build your career here in Tower Hamlets.

This is having an excellent impact on our staff retention as well as the overall quality of social work practice.
