Your Voice, Our Action

YVOA logoWe know our housing management services could be better and are taking action to improve. We have a robust plan in place and are making the necessary financial investments to make sure our residents get the services they deserve.

Part of our improvement journey is to involve our tenants and leaseholders. Our properties are their homes, and we want to hear what they have to say about the place where they live.

There are a number of ways, outlined below, that you can get involved and share your opinions about key issues:

The Big Door Knock

Happening this summer, officers will be visiting homes on council estates to speak to face-to-face with residents to gather their views on a range of topics including, repairs, maintenance, anti-social behaviour, communication and more.

All door-knockers are council staff and will be wearing their ID badge. Ask to see this if you are unsure, we will always be happy to provide it. Staff will go through a short questionnaire with you about some key issues.

If we knock on your door, please take part. Your opinions matter and will help us improve.

Neighbourhood Action Days

We are holding a series of Neighbourhood Action Days on estates throughout this year. It's a chance for tenants and leaseholders to meet our teams to talk about any issues they might be facing in their home or on their estate, like:

  • Caretaking and environment
  • Recycling and waste
  • Resident engagement
  • Antisocial behaviour
  • Repairs
  • Tenancy and leasehold management
  • Rents and financial inclusion

Community Fun Days

Free and open to everyone, our Community Fun Days are being held on estates throughout the borough this summer. They are a chance to connect with your neighbours and meet council teams. There will be stalls, fun activities for children, and much more.

Landlord health and safety

Keeping residents safe is our highest priority. That is why we have reviewed our approach to landlord health and safety. We are seeking views from council tenants and leaseholders on the following policy areas:

  • Fire
  • Water (Legionella)
  • Electrical
  • Asbestos
  • Lifts
  • Gas Safety

Get involved

There are a number of ways council tenants and leaseholders can get involved in helping to shape and improve their estates:

TRAs and TMOs: There are 33 Tenants' and Residents' Associations (TRAs) in Tower Hamlets and four Tenant Management Organisations (TMOs). They are set up by residents for residents.

Tenants' Voice: This is a resident-led group that provides feedback and monitors performance of housing management services.
