Black History Month - What's on

Music, film, workshops, heritage and more form the mainstay of varied, month-long programme of events and activities to mark Black History Month 2022.
Beside the array of listings there are a few further event programmes to highlight.
The 14th annual Somali Week Festival returns with the theme “2022: Traditional and Modern Art Forms”.
Rich Mix is hosting both the Ethiopian Film Festival from 14 to 16 October and Film Africa 2022 from 28 October to 5 November.
Second Home offer a programme across different artistic disciplines that champions experimentation. It embraces the different subcultures within blackness. This includes an exclusive art exhibition gal-dem presents: In the Nook.
The New Black Film Collective (TNBFC) is training young Black participants between 18-30 years old to become film programmers for Black History Month. This FREE course will start in October and include online evening sessions with trained professionals leading to opportunities for future paid work at TNBFC. More details will be available soon.
