Nationality checking service
Offered in partnership with the Home Office, the council checks applications for British Citizenship to ensure all the paperwork is correct before the application is submitted to the Home Office. Use the nationality checking service.
If you have any questions or comments on the services below, please e-mail us with your telephone number at firstname.lastname@example.org
. Unfortunately, we are unable to receive phone calls for this service and aim to respond to emails within 5 working days.
Please note that we do not provide the European Passport Return Service (EPRS) or the Joint Citizenship and Passport Application service.
People who obtain British citizenship can choose to have their certificate presented in either a group or individual ceremony. Find out more about the citizenship ceremonies offered at Tower Hamlets.
Refunds will not be given if you:
- fail to attend your NCS appointment
- are advised by the Home Office that your application is unsuccessful.
You are able to claim a refund for half the fee paid if you give notice of at least two working days (Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays) that you will not be able to attend your appointment.
If you wish to reschedule your appointment, no further fee will be charged to you as long as you give more than two working days’ notice (Monday – Friday excluding Bank Holidays).
At the time of your appointment, if you produce insufficient or incorrect documentation or fail to meet the appropriate residency requirements, your application may not be submitted to UK Visas and Immigration.
You will need to book a new NCS appointment and will be charged another fee.
