Holiday childcare

The Tower Hamlets Holiday Childcare Scheme is Ofsted registered and provides childcare for children aged 3 to 13 years old. The holiday provision takes place in Tower Hamlets schools and operates during the school holidays, (excluding the Christmas break), from an option between 8am to 6pm (for working parents) or 9am to 5pm. Parents should provide their child with a packed lunch, see our healthy packed lunch guidance.

We provide a good quality, safe, inclusive childcare service encouraging all children to engage and participate in play-based activities indoors and outdoors. Highly qualified staff plan and provide a wide range of fun activities following the children’s interests, including, sports, cooking, creative arts and crafts, street dance, zumba, games, film making and much more. They promote and encourage children to choose their own activities and make decisions for themselves.

Update 9 July 2020

Summer Holiday Scheme: Monday 27 July – Friday 21 August 2020 (20 days)

Venue: St Matthias Primary School, Bacon Street, London, E2 6DR

We are at full capacity and bookings are now closed

The holiday childcare scheme is a popular provision and we always support as many children and families as possible. To operate safely, we cannot provide childcare for every child. We are now at full capacity and unable to take any further bookings - we appreciate this may be disappointing for those who have not secured a place.

If you require childcare this summer please contact your school before the end of term. Alternatively, you can contact the Family Information Service on 020 7364 6495 who will be able to let you know what alternative provision is available in Tower Hamlets.

We are looking forward to welcoming children booked to the holiday childcare scheme this summer. We will be open for all children aged 3 – 13 years including children of key workers, vulnerable children and children with SEND referred through short breaks. This is in line with advice from Department for Education.

The health and safety of children and staff is our main priority and due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, the scheme will continue to operate as it did during the Easter and May holiday. This means we will reduce the number of children attending the summer scheme.

The holiday childcare scheme has put strict measures in place to ensure children enjoy their time with us in a safe environment. Please read our May scheme newsletter which covers how we plan to keep children and staff safe.

Risk assessment

The summer scheme provides an opportunity for children to socialise and have fun whilst preparing for a return to school in September. Parents and carers have a shared responsibility to reduce the risk of coronavirus and we urge everyone not to attend the scheme if unwell.

The Holiday Scheme COVID-19 risk assessment is available for parents/carers to view and make an informed decision before booking a place.

We continue to exceed requirements by ensuring all staff are trained in paediatric first aid to improve the safety and wellbeing of children in our care.

Referrals from social care will also be considered on receipt of a referral form, and completed application form, which should be returned no later than two weeks prior to each scheme starting.
