We supported and encouraged community celebrations taking place over the bank holiday weekend 6–8 May 2023.
We supported in three ways
Funding for events
Funding for events which took place on Saturday 6, Sunday 7 and Monday 8 May 2023 was provided through the Coronation Celebration Events Fund. This was made available from the Small Grants Fund. Grants of up to £500 were made to organisations delivering events and street parties.
Street parties and park events
The deadline for applications to hold a Coronation street party or event in one of our parks was Friday 24 March. The council facilitated 10 community street parties and two community park events over the Coronation bank holiday weekend.
Training to deliver safe events
A free online training session for community event organisers took place on Wednesday 15 February. The training looked at how to plan and deliver a safe community event for the Coronation of King Charles III.
The training was led by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets Festivals and Events, and Health & Safety teams.
