Athletics

Victoria Park Harriers and Tower Hamlets Athletics club provide sessions for athletes of all abilities including coaching, holiday programmes, mini marathon and competitions. For more details contact info@vphthac.org.uk or go to www.vphthac.org.uk.

Badminton

Better 'No Strings' sessions are run at both Mile End Park and Poplar Baths leisure centres. These are social turn up and play sessions.

Tower Hamlets Badminton Club run sessions and competition for more experienced players.

Basketball

Cricket

Middlesex Cricket and Tower Hamlets Cricket Club run a variety of sessions for young people across the borough, from competitive coaching to informal street cricket:

Cycling/BMX

Visit our cycling section for more information on casual, group led, and club sessions on two wheels.

Exercise & fitness

Our Parks run a huge variety of exercise and fitness classes ranging from aerobics to zumba in venues including Victoria Park, Meath Gardens and Ropemakers Field, many of which are absolutely free! Find out more on the Our Parks webiste.

Poplar Harca run many activities for local residents, such as ballroom dance, pilates, tai chi and much more. For more information go to the Well One website.

Tower Hamlets Community Housing also run activities for local residents, including yoga, dance and martial arts. For more information view the activity timetable.

Hockey

There are 3 teams in Tower Hamlets providing hockey coaching and matchplay for a variety of ages:

Wapping Hockey Club also run a junior team at John Orwell Sports Centre, every Saturday 9.30 - 11am. Email wappingkidds@gmail.com for more info.

Rugby

Millwall Rugby Club run several men's, women's and youth teams. They are based in Millwall Park on the Isle of Dogs.

Queen Mary University run a community O2 touch rugby session at Stepney Green Park on Tuesdays, 5.30 - 7pm. It's a social turn up and play session for anyone interested in non-contact rugby. Head over to their facebook page for more information.

Swimming

Visit our swimming section for information on clubs, lessons and casual swimming in the borough's leisure centres.

Tennis

Tower Hamlets Tennis provide lessons, club sessions and court hire for tennis in the borough's parks. You can also hire a court from some of our leisure centres.

If you want to play social matches against people at your level you can try Local Tennis Leagues.

Volleyball

London Lynx Volleyball Club also run open training sessions at Whitechapel Sports Centre. Visit the London Lynx Volleyball website for more information.

Our Parks now run a 'Volleyfit' session in Victoria Park every Saturday at 9.30am, suitable for all abilities. See their website for more details.

Social leagues

Go Mammoth operate social leagues in several sports around the borough, including basketball, football, netball, softball and volleyball.
