Victoria Park Harriers and Tower Hamlets Athletics club provide sessions for athletes of all abilities including coaching, holiday programmes, mini marathon and competitions. For more details contact info@vphthac.org.uk or go to www.vphthac.org.uk.


Better 'No Strings' sessions are run at both Mile End Park and Poplar Baths leisure centres. These are social turn up and play sessions.

Tower Hamlets Badminton Club run sessions and competition for more experienced players.

  • Wicketz Youth Coaching - Thursdays 4-6pm, ages 8-16
  • Street Cricket - Fridays, ages 8-15 from 5-6.30pm, ages 16-24 from 6.30-8pm
  • Sunday Tapeball League (ages 14+).

Exercise & fitness

Our Parks run a huge variety of exercise and fitness classes ranging from aerobics to zumba in venues including Victoria Park, Meath Gardens and Ropemakers Field, many of which are absolutely free! Find out more on the Our Parks webiste.

Poplar Harca run many activities for local residents, such as ballroom dance, pilates, tai chi and much more. For more information go to the Well One website.

Tower Hamlets Community Housing also run activities for local residents, including yoga, dance and martial arts. For more information view the activity timetable.

Millwall Rugby Club run several men's, women's and youth teams. They are based in Millwall Park on the Isle of Dogs.

Queen Mary University run a community O2 touch rugby session at Stepney Green Park on Tuesdays, 5.30 - 7pm. It's a social turn up and play session for anyone interested in non-contact rugby. Head over to their facebook page for more information.

Tower Hamlets Tennis provide lessons, club sessions and court hire for tennis in the borough's parks. You can also hire a court from some of our leisure centres.

If you want to play social matches against people at your level you can try Local Tennis Leagues.


We run a women and girls volleyball session at Poplar Baths every Wednesday, 6.30 - 7.30pm. £2 per session. For more information and to book email Madonis.Thomas@towerhamlets.gov.uk.

Social leagues

Go Mammoth operate social leagues in several sports around the borough, including basketball, football, netball, softball and volleyball.
