Building control fees and charges

The charges we apply for building regulations applications are either determined as a standard charge or, for larger schemes, individually determined on a case-by-case basis.

Standard and Individually determined charges

To request a quote, email us at buildingcontrol@towerhamlets.gov.uk. Please include 'Request for building regulation charge' in the title and provide a description of the intended work. Alternatively, contact us on 020 7364 5000.

Higher-risk Buildings - Building Safety Act 2022

The hourly rate for supporting the Building Safety Regulator in the performance of its relevant functions under Building Safety Act 2022  is £176/hour.

Dangerous structures

The call-out fees for dangerous structures are provided on the dangerous structures page.

Out of hours inspections

In order to facilitate completion or occupation or to minimise disturbance to building users, arrangements can be made to witness testing of fire and live safety systems out of normal working hours.

The following charges apply:

• Monday to Friday (up to 9pm) - £120 per hour
• Monday to Friday (after 9pm) and weekends - £195 per hour

Non-statutory services

We charge for some non-statutory services, such as providing copies of approval and completion certificates and file retrieval. See more details for document copy requests and file retrieval.
