Housing service: Busy phone lines

Our phone lines are very busy at the moment. Please be patient, our team will speak to you as soon as they can. If you must call, please avoid calling during peak hours: 12pm to 2pm and 3pm to 4pm.

If you are calling about the MOPAC charge letter or SMS, please visit the MOPAC page.

Beware of council house scammers

We only ever allocate homes according to our policy. Every application goes through a series of checks to make sure it is valid and correctly prioritised. If anyone ever approaches you asking for money to get a council home, it is a scam.

Council officers would never ask for money to deal with housing applications.

What you can do

  • Never hand over money if approached by someone 'claiming' to be a council officer, or claiming to be able to affect your housing application.
  • If you see an online post that makes such claims report it to us immediately. Get a screenshot if possible. Do not contact the person.
  • If you are ever approached in person in and around the town hall, report it to the council’s Facilities Management staff immediately.
  • Report scammers approaching you or requests for money to the police (call 999 in an emergency).
