Nitu and Ashik have been dating for over a year and decide to get married. They want to be true to their Asian heritage and culture but have student loans and can't afford a big wedding. Nitu’s only uncle is coming from America and her aunty has booked tickets from Bangladesh. But they do not get on well! While aunty struggles to get her visa, cousins in the UK are rehearsing traditional wedding songs and dances. The invitation list is getting bigger. When Ashik’s uncle finds out that Nitu’s grandfather is a farmer, he is not pleased. He is more worried about his social status than the happiness of the couple. Nitu and Ashik discover that the situation is spiralling out of their control. Family traditions are not being kind to them.

Fate intervenes and covid restrictions force Ashik and Nitu to get married in Nitu’s garden. They can only have a maximum of six guests at any time. With a more intimate celebration, the bride and groom are able to avoid huge costs and family tensions. Covid compelled them to look at the essentials and to be kind to themselves.
