Barnardo's free helpline to support Ukrainian families

Barnardo’s have a helpline to provide support and care to anyone fleeing the conflict in Ukraine.

You can call the helpline on 0800 148 8586. English, Ukrainian and Russian speakers are available.

The helpline is open Monday to Friday, 10am–8pm and Saturday, 10am–3pm.

Our diverse community

Community Cohesion project

The Community cohesion project aims to bring people from different backgrounds together.

Activities include:

  • nature-based or community art projects,
  • local history projects,
  • migrant women’s citizenship project
  • and a firework night.

Community forums

The council supports a number of forums to help local people to have an impact upon council policies and services in our work around equalities and diversity. These include the:

  • disabled people’s forum,
  • LGBT Community Forum,
  • inter-faith forum
