The council now have a data sharing agreement with the Canal & River Trust (C&RT). We have worked together to develop a data sharing agreement so we can respond quicker to complaints. We have also improved how we communicate with boaters in the event of noise or smoke complaints about their vessel(s).

We have also developed an advisory leaflet for boaters to prevent noise and nuisance on the canal near residential premises. Advisory signs will be placed along the canal tow path soon.

Environmental Protection have responded to residents’ concerns and complaints and have implemented a better strategy and ways to communicate with boaters and our colleagues at C&RT.

Officers delivered the advisory leaflets to the boats along the towpath. Environmental Protection were accompanied by local Bow East SNT police and ASB who also shared leaflets with boaters with advice on crime and ASB prevention.
