Idea Learning Store

Are you passionate about painting? Want to try Tai Chi? Or maybe you need English and Maths qualifications to improve your job prospects? Whatever your interests or needs, Idea Store Learning could have the course for you.

There are more than 900 courses to choose from at Idea Stores across Tower Hamlets, including fashion and textiles, learning to be a tour guide, belly dancing, salsa, woodwork, upholstery, Spanish, creative writing, pottery, and many more.

You can also study for qualifications in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), which is a requirement for some jobs, and Functional Skills in Maths and English.

98 per cent of our learners tell us that they are highly satisfied with courses and would recommend it to a friend.

The sessions start from just £1, and in some cases are free, if you are on particular benefits or have a low income. You can find out more on the Idea Stores website.

Ofsted has recently rated Idea Store Learning as ‘good’, with inspectors praising the quality of courses and teaching on offer, and how learners are supported to increase their skills across a wide range of subjects.

Morgan, a ballet student, said: “The course has positively impacted my health. It is a great physical and mental workout, and the other class members are lovely.

“Completing a dance sequence with precision and memory makes me feel proud of myself, which extends outside the course.

“The tutor is wonderful and makes the hard work we do fun.”

Learner Rubena Begum said: “Before coming to the Idea Store I couldn’t speak English, but now I have found a job because I learnt English at the Idea Store.”

Bryan McLaughlin, a woodwork learner, added: “I have built a large shoe rack and a television stand using reclaimed wood. I am very proud of these accomplishments and didn’t think I would be able to do this at the start of the course.

“Being dyslexic I have very much enjoyed this practical style of learning and have appreciated the tutor’s support and teaching skills throughout.”

Councillor Abdul Wahid, Cabinet Member for Jobs, Skills and Growth, said:

“These courses are a great way to get some new skills, make new friends, and boost your employability.

“There is a huge variety of courses available so there is something for everyone.”

Enrolment is now open for our September adult and community learning classes and closes in October.

To join one of our ESOL, English, Maths or Digital Skills course, you will need to book an initial assessment session in September. Please visit our website for more information.
